I bought this as a bathing spot for my zebra finches. I wanted something they could bathe in and hold the water they splashed. It's absolutely her favorite thing to do. I installed it through a door at the front of her cage so the box would hang outside of the cage. The ledge at the front of the box is slightly wider than the hole in my cage so it takes a bit of maneuvering to get there, but it works. I put some decorative stones inside and filled them with water up to the top of the stones. You won't enter it until I add the stones. I think it was hard for them to tell how deep the water was and they felt too unnatural. They use it so much that I have to clean it every day which isn't a big deal. I just rinse it and the stones in the sink and fill it up with good mineral water.
