I've been trying smart locks since 2013 when I had my first fingerprint lock that ran on AA batteries and you had to make sure it was charged or you screwed up. I've added a smart lock every few years since then, so I now have multiple locks and I have enough locks to see their progress since 2013. My second lock added a numeric keypad option in addition to a backup power option, if the battery dies I can use a D size battery to power it. After that, applications for telephone, Bluetooth and NFC were added. What I love about this particular lock is the many features it offers. In addition to fingerprint and number pad input, there is a standalone option to use a spare key. This defeats the purpose so I just leave it in another house as a last resort. Because another emergency input when there is no electricity is to use the power bank with micro USB cable. I've noticed that fingerprint recognition time has decreased over the years. It's not nearly as accurate or fast as Touch ID, but it's coming close. My first lock was about 80% accurate, which means it sometimes didn't work. I couldn't read the fingerprint even if I did it slowly and firmly, and it took almost a second. Now I would say that the accuracy is around 95% and the duration is around half a second. This is quite a large locking system so make sure you have enough space around your door. Luckily, the hole required for installation is the same as a regular lock, so you don't have to do any extra carpentry work if you're just replacing the lock. Finally, although I have the version without WiFi, there is also this option. You would do this via an app that you installed and set up, by connecting them to your WiFi network. If you have already configured the application after connecting, you can unlock it remotely from anywhere in the world as long as your phone is connected to the internet of course. The price seems high but for all the features you get I think it's worth the investment. It also looks pretty cool if you bring a friend or someone else and unlock it with your fingerprint. Time to step into the 21st century with a 21st century castle. I think it's worth the investment. It also looks pretty cool if you bring a friend or someone else and unlock it with your fingerprint.
