Review on πŸŽ‰ Chantal 40th Anniversary 2-Quart Enamel on Steel Teakettle, Canary Yellow: Vibrant and Celebratory Teakettle for a Stylish Kettle Experience by Michael Wehrman

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Incredible in new condition, wears relatively well.

Love love love this kettle! The kitchen is so beautiful. Excellent quality. I disagree with other reviewers who said the handle gets hot. I don't have this problem. You have to use a glove to open the valve when pouring water, but you have to boil the kettle for a long time before the handle gets hot. I bought this to replace my Revere kettle which doesn't have a lid. With Chantal, you can open the lid to clean. Who knows what deposits have accumulated in my old one. I would like to note that the flame of the gas burner is not too high - I try to keep the flame from touching the enamel of the boiler walls and just keep the flame at the bottom. Given the slanted shape of the sides, it's easy to overestimate the appropriate flame size. The whistle isn't as loud as my old Revere, but loud enough to be heard in another room, so that's ok. I repeat, this is a beautiful thing and of good quality. Update: After 3 years of daily use, the kettle shows signs of age with slight rust around the handle and mineral deposits (maybe rust too?) on the inside. The vinegar boiling method of removing scale that worked for the first few months no longer removes scale completely. But it is beautiful and lasted three years. I am considering a replacement due to deposit issues.
