I wanted to give this pretty teapot five stars but not enough and now after a short use the pipe disappeared. In fact, the lid on the spout no longer completely closes the spout. After a short use, the lid seemed to have come loose and no more steam came out of the spout. Since the lid is on the kettle, no one knows when the water will boil. So for those who don't bother and just want boiled water it's fine, but for those who like the whistle of a kettle, look elsewhere.

I bought this kettle to replace the Revere Ware Kettle I had for over 30 years. Revere is holding his $88 and solid copper bottom. This half price kettle has durable construction and a porcelain coating so the water comes out clean and delicious. The lid is removable for easy filling, but remains securely closed when pouring. The handle doesn't feel hot even when the water is boiling, but a small lever to lift the spout to inflate even feels cool. Revere Ware does not come close to any of these

The color is great for a kitchen that's mostly black and white. I've had this kettle for a few months now and it looks brand new. It cleans really well and since I can remove the lid and clean the inside of the kettle, I can get rid of stubborn deposits with regular washing instead of using vinegar or other cleaning products. You have to use a glove to open the valve when pouring water, but you have to boil the kettle for a long time before the handle gets hot.
