I love this Naniva. He was dead instantly. I needed a special finisher for my straight razors and it works great. I could swear this particular stone was made specifically for straight people. The shave was bloody smooth from stone to skin. No CrOx or Diamond First Shave Spray; I was surprised. The chips come off immediately with water or fingertips. Not cheap, but lasts a long time. My pocket knife is also quickly polished. Still aggressive in this grit, so keep calm. Naniwa has a reputation for playing well with other stones, while Shaptons don't have much to offer. Nani stones are softer than shaptons so I think shaptons require less lapping and are better suited for heavy tools like chisels etc. I think naniwas are thicker so they can last longer. Sharpness is important, but smoothness is also important when it comes to shaving and I'm already impressed with this stone. Applies easily to wet/dry paper. No complaints. It would be nice if some kind of pedestal was included as the stone is thin. i will live haha Beautiful velvety and milky stone. If you are looking for a high grain, stable straight stone finish that blends well with other stones, this is for you. I'm not a honey master, but this stone is very handy for me. Some people might prefer natural stones ymmv but this is a great finishing touch. I have no complaints. Delivery at night, without chips and scratches. Yes it's $$$ but I doubt I'll ever need to replace it. PS: If you find this stone wearing off quickly, apply incredible pressure. It makes it easy.
