Review on ๐ŸŒก๏ธ Waterproof Refrigerator Fridge Thermometer with Max/Min Record Function and Large LCD Display by Quas Santiago

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Battery ran out quickly

I bought two of these. Both died about 6 months later. Too bad they don't come with a battery so you don't drain it while it waits to buy. They are not designed to replace the battery without disassembling the device, which requires a tiny screwdriver. Update: I increased my rating from 1 to 3 because I remembered that they included a small screwdriver with the device. I dug it up and found that the screws in the 4 corners of the case are very tight and I'm concerned that either the screw heads or the screwdriver will be damaged with repeated use. The saving grace is that if you replace the original battery, the battery is likely to last a long time. To release the battery, move the carabiner on the battery stand. For me, the carabiner is next to the letter "S" that I wrote on the board (see photo). I held it upside down and the battery fell out when I pressed the carabiner. (The battery in the photo is my spare.) The instructions say it's IPX3 waterproof. I looked it up and found that IPX3 means it offers good protection against splashing water; it promises nothing about submerging the device in water. In this context, unless you spray water on it, you might not need screws to hold it together; Duct tape may suffice as the two parts of the case are bonded together fairly securely. (FYI, the temp sensor is a small 5/32" metal pad next to the leg/hook.) My final score depends on how long the spare battery lasts. . I've found the temperatures to be the same as my other thermometers. I have since bought two metal thermometers with a coil and dial (they don't need batteries but don't have high/low memory like these devices).
