Ok so I had low expectations and after a year the one in the freezer was unreadable and the one in the fridge very slow and dark. I loved them for 11 months but thought they were just dead. I tried unscrewing the 4 screws on the back and see what type of batteries they have. Bingo! cheap unreadable Chinese batteries type CR2032. I bought two of these. Both died about 6 months later. Too bad they don't come with a battery so you don't drain it while it waits to buy. They are not designed to replace the battery without disassembling the device, which requires a tiny screwdriver. Update: I increased my rating from 1 to 3 because I remembered that they included a small screwdriver with the device.
