Great value for money, easy to install

This kit was purchased and installed in February 2019. At that time we had two foster children whose play corner was in the guest part of the house next to the kitchen. We decided on a barn door over the hallway entrance which required a custom made door due to the arches. Aesthetics – (10/10) The hardware looked great right out of the box. The matte finish was very consistent across all components. We really like the handle on the door and the recessed grip on the back. The industrial style looks great with the dark stain over the pine we chose for the door. The surface has held up well to daily use for over a year. Installation - (9/10) As for the kit, the installation was very easy. As a precaution, I would strongly recommend installing with a header (see photos). It's highly unlikely that the mounting holes and posts will line up perfectly with your studs, and the top plate design looks more polished in my opinion. Our wall had a noticeable kink at the 8ft span, but this did not affect the installation or movement of the door. I also recommend having two people hang up the rail. Function - (9/10) My only criticism of this hardware is that in the middle of the rail (where the two rail sections meet) the sections are COMPLETELY mismatched. I don't think the double plate that connects them is adjustable (see photo with plate and four screws). The result is an audible "pop" as the rollers pass over the pivot. I could probably put a file in the joint to smooth it out, but haven't done it yet. In addition to this "knocking", the rollers open and close very gently and silently. The handle is very durable and comfortable to use. Durability - (10/10) More than a year after installation, this door works perfectly. Surfaces on rails, handles, castors, etc. hold up well. The movement is still smooth and quiet. Price - (8/10). At the time of purchase, I honestly did not study how much they should cost. I had about $200 in materials for the door itself, so the $105 price seemed reasonable. Since then I've seen similar kits for as little as $60 but the reviews on these kits are very good or not. I had no concerns about this kit (other than the alignment of the two rail sections as noted), so I'm not too concerned about the price. Overall we are very happy with our purchase and will likely use the same kit for future installs should the opportunity arise.
