Review on πŸ“Ά Hawking Technology HD45R Hi-Gain Dual-Band Wireless-N Router with Enhanced Connectivity by Michael Sharp

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Too high price for lowest quality

This is my second Hawking Technology unit as the first unit's setup menu was almost unusable as it often either froze or crashed requiring a pause or restart. so I can access it again. One day, despite the wonders of my patients, I finally managed to set it up and after about two or three hours it was up and running for about a night. The next morning I go to connect and I can't find the SSID and when I checked the router the lights on both wireless connections were off and I had to restart it to get the wireless connection back. Once this happened, it would lose both wired and wireless connections about every 10-30 minutes. So I sent the first one back. The second block wasn't nearly as bad as the first, but it still had issues with the menu being unresponsive for an extended period of time before applying changes, or crashing, but not as often. like the first. Installation was relatively quick, so the menu didn't get bogged down as much, and only took 10-20 minutes. The problem with this router was how often the wireless connection dropped, and depending on how many people were connected, the disconnect rate went up. Usually all wired and wireless connections dropped every one to two hours, but when more than 3 or 4 people were connected at the same time, the connection dropped several times an hour or every 10-15 minutes. For the price I paid and for a brand name I expected a lot more from, I could go to Walmart and buy a $30 Cisco router that would outperform this wireless router any day. I could understand one of these routers. being utter rubbish, but the two have so many problems that it's unacceptable. If you value your time and a constant uninterrupted internet connection, I would look at something other than this router, especially if you have a lot of people or a large number of devices that need to connect to a wireless internet connection.
