Review on ☕ Bodum PEBO Coffee Maker – Vacuum Siphon Brewer for Slow, Bold Flavor: 8 Cup, 1L, European Made, Black by Melinda Raley

Great pot - read the full review when in doubt!

Although I'm not a coffee connoisseur, I've spent a lot of time figuring out how to make this "perfect" mug. For me that is everything. I also bought a Hario cloth siphon filter to replace the plastic filter that came with it (both because I don't use plastic for cooking etc. and because the cloth filter allows absolutely no "dirt" on the bottom of the cup). ).Some Notes! Some people complain that if they follow the directions, the coffee gets weaker. However. Most people don't realize that when using European products, most of the time when talking about coffee, the "cup" they're talking about is roughly 4 ounces. This also explains why a 6-8 cup coffee maker only makes 3-4 cups in terms of our coffee mugs. I use about 1 heaping tablespoon of ground coffee for every 4 ounces of water. Once the water is below the rim of the top pot and you get a "boiling" effect at the bottom, I turn off the stove, wait about 20 seconds, and then remove the Pebo from the stove. I don't know how other people broke this, but 3 things to watch out for: use a medium heat on the stovetop, place the pebo on something like an oven mitt that isn't wet, and finally. DO NOT place it on a cool and/or damp surface. Almost anything made of glass that has been overheated will shatter. If handled well, maintained properly and used with patience (I've seen too many reviews of people putting this on the stovetop over medium-high heat). Bodom. 3 year old update: still works as good as the first day I unpacked it. I have now used it on an electric range and two different gas ranges with no problems. I still can't stress enough my advice about not placing this on cool and/or wet surfaces - I always use a drying rack to set the whole assembly down after taking it off the heat, and I also let the pans cool down beforehand the rinsing/washing. If you're worried about reviews of the bottom pot "exploding," breaking, etc., then I can almost guarantee it's user error. Recently I've been considering buying a second pot so I have a backup (I'm afraid all good things break sooner or later) but I also allow myself to be sat on the pot first thing in the morning and then clear out the previous day's pot during I'm waiting.

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
