Review on 🔋 Advanced Self-powered Battery Tester: Sinometer BT558 by Brian Olson

Inaccurate for many purposes

This tester can identify a completely dead battery, but it cannot tell a 90% dead battery from a new one - both read 'good'. A relatively low battery will work for some very low-power applications, such as clocks, but will not work for many higher-power applications. For example, my electric toothbrush no longer works on batteries, which still read "good" with this tester. When testing batteries with a flashlight where the light is so dim that anyone would say the batteries were "dead", this tester shows the batteries reaching the "good" range. In fact, I've never seen this tester report a battery in the yellow "low" range. You can use this tester to see if the battery can be used for very low voltage applications, but in most cases it is useless. There is very little reserve power left in the battery. Think of a battery as a huge steel water tank with a small faucet at the bottom that is rarely open and only a trickle of water flows out at all times. When you see the trickle coming out, how full is the tank? You have no way of knowing. When all you want is a trickle, you really don't need to know how crowded it is. However, if you need to open a faucet to get a strong flow of water, there must be enough water in the tank to provide pressure. Seeing a trickle doesn't tell you how much you'll get when you turn on the faucet. This tester can only tell you that the battery is capable of producing a dribble; it says "good" for any battery that has a bit of charge left. Как и в случае с резервуаром, этого может быть достаточно, если все, что вам нужно, это несколько капель, но если вам нужно открыть кран дальше и получить реальный поток, этот тестер не сможет сказать вам, имеет ли батарея такую емкость или no .
