Prefer this over the best seller

I bought the first nine years ago and have since bought two more. All three work fine but I was away from home and needed a new one. So I bought the Amprobe BAT-200 Battery Tester thinking I'd like it better. No, it's easier to use. It doesn't look like it, but it's easier to handle, probably due to its smaller size. It costs a dollar more than Amprobe, but I recommend it.

Pros
  • Easy setup

  • Can't remember

Blue doesn't work

I already had a very similar one and I really liked it. But someone liked it too, and it went away. So I ordered a new one expecting the same quality as before. It works the same way, but the results are very different. I have tested several different batteries and the results have not changed. The batteries, which I knew were completely dead, showed that they were far from fine. Good batteries showed the same. I am really disappointed.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Little things

My wife loves this style

I've bought several inexpensive review units recently, each with its own pros and cons. The one I liked best, which gave a digital readout of the current battery voltage, didn't have 45-degree battery guides - the one that did had an analog reader. My wife prefers this style which we found earlier at Radio Shack. It's not perfect, but she loves it, so we have that and three other testers. If only a digital voltage tester had slanted sides for AA and AAA batteries.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Mostly ok but...

Great gadget for household batteries, chargers and accessories

This is a simple, almost reliable device. You open your hand to touch the battery contacts and look at the meter. Green is good, red is bad. There are two contacts for 9V batteries on the side. The hand is configured so that coin batteries can also be tested. Almost any battery can be tested in a few seconds. This device worked great. While not a true "stress test," it certainly distinguishes the living from the dead. I was able to replace dozens of batteries in just a few minutes. I recycle…

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • No instructions

I only chose this model because it is blue and I knew I would find it easier. It costs more, but it's a nice blue tint, and I didn't want to spray-paint a tiny piece of plastic just to find it. PREPARE FOR A SHOCK! There are probably a dozen of these testers under different brand names but with identical or nearly identical interiors. Once you've caught your breath, read on. They all work the same way, and they all work well enough for simple little battery testers. They all test regular AA…

Sinometer BT558 Self Powered Battery Tester

Firstly this is the third purchase of the same item. The product is just great. The first purchase of an item was almost a year ago. It works so well I bought two more. The battery tester tests 9V AAA, AA, C, D batteries. When the arrow turns green, everything is ok, yellow is weak, and red is fully discharged. Bought two more as gifts for a friend and one for a brother. This saves you money when you put two or more batteries in an electronic device, it often draws more current from one or two…

Pros
  • Great for me

Inaccurate for many purposes

This tester can identify a completely dead battery, but it cannot tell a 90% dead battery from a new one - both read 'good'. A relatively low battery will work for some very low-power applications, such as clocks, but will not work for many higher-power applications. For example, my electric toothbrush no longer works on batteries, which still read "good" with this tester. When testing batteries with a flashlight where the light is so dim that anyone would say the batteries were "dead", this…
