Great for going out.

This stainless steel mug is very light due to the stainless steel compared to most mugs which are made of 2 or 3 layers of plastic. I was wondering if this stainless steel mug will last hot tea as long as other plastic mugs. So I tested this stainless steel mug and the Starbucks Christmas themed plastic layered mug, which has become my go-to mug. Both cups are the same size. I'm a tea lover, so in this test I used two different types of tea: green tea and kombucha/seaweed tea [which is slightly thicker than regular tea because kombu (Japanese word for seaweed) cha (Japanese word for tea) powder dissolves in hot water (just like hot cocoa).] This keeps both cups hot for about the same amount of time. Visually, this mug is more grown-up and sophisticated (only stainless steel without a pattern) than my Starbucks mug (with snowman, deer and co). Although I LOVE Christmas every day of the year and the Starbucks mug is definitely fun, I now take this stainless steel mug with me when I go out because it suits all places and occasions and saves me the trouble of hiding it. Also, I like everything I carry to be light, the lighter the better. Therefore, this ultra-light stainless steel mug is an asset to me on my travels. It's important to note that both cups are fully sealed so you don't have to worry about spills. That's true because I closed the lid and bravely turned the mug upside down to see if it spilled. The only benefit of this mug is that the Starbucks mug is much easier and quicker to close with a lid than this stainless steel mug - as if the lid clicks into the grooves when inserted, indicating the lid is in the right place. On the other hand, this mug requires me to try a few times (sometimes more) to fit the lid into the slots. Very important, this mug is stainless steel, I need to be very careful and check if it is tight. When I shook this mug for the first time, the very hot tea flew in all directions. Even with the lid not fitting in the grooves, I was still able to tighten the lid, so that totally fooled me. When this deficiency is removed, I will put "5+".
