When I work indoors, outdoors, or on outdoor equipment, I avoid rusting. This means using a stainless steel (SS) nut and bolt. I need a stainless steel lock washer to match the nut and bolt, or better yet, I can use a nylon insert that will hold the stainless steel nut like one of those (I think the brand name was "Nyloc" - that's the generic version). Great price and properly made of stainless steel resists corrosion and is just what I needed. They stay tight thanks to a nylon insert that threads onto the bolt along with the nut body. They have a 5/16" hole with 18 threads per inch (TPI), which is a common size so they can be used with an appropriately sized screw. The illustrations show a lockable stainless steel lock nut bath with a nylon insert. I recommend this SNUG pack of 50 5/16" x 18 TPI Stainless Steel Nylon Insert Locknuts. They are a great value.
