Review on LinkSprite LinkNode ESP 12F Controller (LN_RELAY4CH) by Morgan Arnold

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Uses custom power plug

Who ever decided to use a 5.5 x 2.5mm plug in this thing? All adapters in the civilized world use 5.5x2.1mm, but LinkSprite went either cheap (they had a cheap batch of non-standard adapters) or special. Either way, this usually means either buying a custom power supply (and waiting for it), or desoldering the power connector and soldering the power supply directly to the board. Any solution sucks. The usual testimonials also apply: The built-in software is absolute rubbish, but works with ESPHome or Tasmota without any problems. Decent build quality (well labeled pins, solid relays) aside from that GODS TERRIBLE socket (seriously, LinkSprite, FIX IT). I see a need for 4 or 5 more of these, but not if I need to solder the power supply. to each board. They are great for outdoor low voltage lighting (with waterproof box), Christmas lighting, irrigation, etc.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Something's wrong
