I bought this modem to avoid paying "rent" from Comcast and I'm very glad I did. It works great, syncs with Comcast and activates instantly without a support call. Very fast! I more than doubled my speed by switching from a rented standard surfboard modem to this one. I went from 11MB down and 2MB up to 26-30MB down and 5MB up! Absolutely no complaints! We look forward to reaping the long-term benefits: no modem rental fees and faster connection. I highly recommend THIS particular modem for Comcast (DPC 3000) as it IS on their allow list and is also a great feature. One benefit I was particularly looking for was that it's 10/100/1000, and that was important to me because my home network is also gigabit. Although Comcast's actual transfer rate might be lower, I was pleased to see throughput at gigabit speeds in my setup.
