Branded by Verizon but comes with Frontier firmware - Verizon does not support it

I'm fairly tech savvy and understand networking equipment. If I knew how many headaches and hours wasted because of this router, I would avoid it. It comes with Frontier firmware (apparently Frontier is a west coast cable company that also offers Fios services), although it's owned by Verizon. Apparently it can be activated in some markets, but Verizon couldn't activate it in Washington DC. I spent hours on the phone with Verizon, moving the router to other coax outlets, booting up, rebooting, hard resetting, running diagnostics, etc. I was tricked into thinking this router would come with Verizon firmware, knowing that this should be avoided. with Frontier firmware. Even if you can get this router working with Verizon Fios, Verizon will not support it or send firmware updates to it. You can also spend more to get a Linksys/Asus/Netgear/Buffallo/etc. with a better chipset OR pay more to get a Verizon G1100 router with Verizon firmware. If you have a Verizon Fios and want to avoid the headaches I went through, avoid this router at all costs!
