I bought this primarily for my Hoffman Richter knives but have since used it to sharpen kitchen knives and my pocket knives with a smaller 2" blade length on one of them, no problem just sharpens the blades Just the right angle for a very sharp edge. Pro`s1) works on all knife blades I've had to sharpen as well as those that have been somewhat neglected.2) sharpens blades of all sizes from thick to thin, just hold it between two rods when drawing, I look at each pull to make sure my blade is centered and not tilted before pulling it out - any twist or movement as the blade retracts. 4) Very good made of thick plastic for a durable work bag Sharpener will last for many years 5) Price is on par with other sharpeners in this category which was also a plus in purchasing decision 6) C The company is well respected and the products speak for themselves himself, which was another plus for this purchase. Disadvantages I can only highlight a few, the most important if I was asked would be placing the sharpening rods over the top of the product, the main reason being that when sharpening a blade using the Quick Finger Opening knob on the back of the top of the Blade is limited to how far I can insert such blades into the rod's hole, which somewhat limits part of the rear end of the blade. have a wider base with rubber pads on the top and bottom of the sharpener for a tighter fit when placed on a flat surface while sharpening. Remove more of the back of your blade as you sharpen. Otherwise when all is said and done this is my 3rd pocket knife sharpener which is now my ONLY pocket knife sharpener as I threw away my other 2 because they just didn't get the blade sharp enough to cut hair like this HR-1 slicing, It's so convenient that you can reset the blade with a few pulls and start slicing again. I would recommend this product to anyone who needs a sharpener that really gets the job done.
