GFCI plug tester works as described and was very helpful. The portable non-contact voltage tester was very poor. He beeped and read the voltage at the outlet not receiving power, no. I touched the wires with my finger after making sure the switch was off and checked with a multimeter. No voltage. There is no explanation as to why he saw tension where there was none. Useless in my use. He recognized tension in random elements that had no tension. Buy a GFCI tester and a multimeter. Can't recommend as half of the product didn't work for me. I will keep the GFCI tester as it was helpful.
