So tried it, but don't know if I'll stick with it. I used a network diagram, which Rube Goldberg would appreciate, but I'm not sure that while the Leviton Gateway works the way I'm using it, it's the best alternative for me. I don't have a structured media console and am too humble (okay, cheap is the precise definition) to bother installing it. In the meantime, whenever possible in the current environment, I will use Ethernet over a wireless network, especially with a few tricky devices that don't work well in a wireless environment. This gateway device - not just a switch - is protected by a firewall, but supports wireless connections independently, so wireless connections (which most users will probably still need) require a router connected to the gateway, running with DHCP disabled configured and configured as an access point. To date I have not changed the reserved device IP addresses or the static addresses on the Leviton device, but if this becomes a problem I will change. I also use powerline adapters and even have a couple of Netgear access points (hey, I'm on Vine. I get all sorts of stuff to use), but since this device only has 4 ports, I need to cascade with at least one additional device for my current needs if I decide to continue using it. One downside might be that the device doesn't have gigabit capability, which to me sounds a lot like complaining that our favorite springer spaniel never understood the concept of pointing. Not to mention that I don't want that. But I suppose if I ever decided to start hunting that would be nice.
