Review on Qooltek Multipurpose Laser Level with 8ft Measure Tape πŸ“ Ruler – Adjustable Standard and Metric Rulers for Picture Hanging by Jeremy Monroe

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Far from being an accurate instrument, but good enough.

So let me explain the 4 stars first. The thing deserves 4 stars just because of the price and what you get for the money. So, let's get to a real review of the product. Upon opening the box, I was pleasantly surprised to see an extra flat ruler and a small Phillips screwdriver. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that not only were the batteries included, but the batteries were already in the device. Using the tool is quite simple, no tricks. The switch turns on the laser, and it's almost impossible to mess up the bubble level, so they work as intended. It took me a second to figure out the laser pattern switch (RTFM) but it's easy to work with once you realize it's a lot easier than you think. The tape measure works great although the locking mechanism is the polar opposite of any other tape measure I have used. Again, once I figured it out, no complaints. Now there are two cons and if it was a $100 tool it would give 1 star but for $12 I'm still happy with it. My only complaint is that the laser emits at an angle of about 5 degrees clockwise. It's not such a big deal if you're holding it against a wall to have a horizontal laser, but if you're mounting it on a table or counter the laser doesn't noticeably move straight up and down. Knowing this, I just use it horizontally and adjust for very small angle changes. Another downside, and this isn't a complaint, is that bubble levels aren't very accurate. This is an issue with the markings on the bubble cylinders themselves, not a defect or anything as those levels just get you closer to them. In short, this tool deserves 4 stars because it does what it advertises and at a reasonable price. . This is more than enough for those who want their images to be smooth and consistent, but if you suffer from OCD or have a legitimate need for a more precise tool, spend the money.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
