I suspect this battery was never intended for the 980, from the description it was designed for the 500 series. The original battery that came with the Roomba slowly died; it lasted about an hour, so after 90 minutes of charging. So I figured any third party battery would last longer. This battery lasts an average of more than 50 minutes on hard floors and some carpets. The problem is compounded by the fact that the Roomba firmware is not designed for a battery life of up to 60 minutes. Instead of returning to base to reload, he will die halfway. I checked the app and it says low battery. He simply decides not to come back for 60 minutes. The iRobot support page also states that any battery that doesn't last more than 60 minutes needs to be replaced. All in all, I cannot recommend this battery for 980 owners.
