Review on πŸ“Š Apera Instruments Conductivity Multi Parameter Replaceable: Superior Performance for Precise Measurements by Eric Pavelko

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent investment! on Substance Analysis Instrumentation

I give this 5 stars despite having to return and replace the first one I bought. It worked for a good week and a half. Then the blue backlight stopped working and, despite multiple calibrations, the pH values of the water were constantly different (using the same glass of water and rinsing the probe in distilled water + drying before retesting). I contacted Apera outside of Revain to see if I should return it or if I had done something wrong and they emailed me back the next day. They offered to return it as it was defective. It was excellent customer service. I requested a replacement through Revain and they said it would take 4 days to get a new one. Came in 2 days. We were very impressed and surprised. As long as the new one does what it's supposed to. It's easy to read, easy to set up, and the backlight is a nice touch. Backlight: blue - when measuring water. Just so you can read it in the dark if you need to. You can set the settings to have the backlight always on, always off, or on for 1 minute when you press the power button. The green backlight appears when you calibrate the sensor yourself and is off otherwise. The kit includes calibration solutions 4 and 7 plus 2 additional conductivity calibration solutions, a probe cap that can be used to store the probe. Solution (also included, but it's really tiny and quick), plus a lanyard. Make sure the 2 black probes are NOT wetted with storage solution. There should only be one clear ball in the storage solution. Actually we don't use the tip, it just gets in the way. The kit includes an instruction manual/instruction manual and a laminated card with step-by-step instructions on how to calibrate the probe. It's big and perfect when you're working with liquid. The Apera website has videos you can watch if the instructions seem a bit confusing. If you are interested in any type of hydroponic gardening this is a great investment. It offers measurements of PH, conductivity, TDS (ppm reading) and salinity. UPDATE: I accidentally messed up the sensor by letting the 3M KCI soak touch the 2 black bars. NEVER ALLOW THE BLACK PROBES TO TOUCH THE KCI SOLUTION UNLESS IN ISE AND SOAKED. THE SOLUTION MUST ONLY HAVE A CLEAR GLOBE. It took a while to fail, but that's not the product's fault. I ordered a replacement sensor from Revain and it works like new. I put painter's tape on the probe's cap so I know how high the KCI solution can go without touching the black bars. It's also easy to change.

Pros
  • Test, Measure & Inspect
Cons
  • Legacy Model
