I have a 72 inch mower deck under a 30 hp tractor. It's driven by a 240-inch belt that runs through all three reel pulleys from the PTO shaft. If the grass is healthy, the belt will slip resulting in a bad cut. Many years ago an aircraft mechanic told me to put valve lapping paste on the belt. I've been doing this for years and the results are incredible. I thought this would prematurely age the belt, but I've never experienced that. I think it works partly by taking the shine off the pulleys. The best belt grip!
