Review on πŸ’ͺ Powerful Precision: DEWALT DWA1816 1 Inch Hole Saw for Accurate and Efficient Drilling by Brett Robinson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Quality hole saw from Dewalt.

Just received this today and decided to try it right away. First, this saw is huge. I'm referring to their 6" round shape so no surprises. I ordered this to maybe make a cornhole board and maybe other projects like kraft paper holders, bowl holders are random projects. This is very high quality. Hole saw made by Dewalt. I was originally going to get a yellow 6" wood only hole saw but decided to do it just in case I need to drill holes even in metal and also through pipe/PVC as those guys are price tags. for plumbing and electrical "The saw is heavy, with a very smooth, clean finish and extremely sharp teeth. I have some self-taught experience with wood, chainsaws, and power tools, but I have nothing to do with professionals or contractors who work with wood for a living.. I am... new to using hole saws - this 6" was my second try, the first was a 2-1/2" hole of the same quality from Dewalt. The 2-1/2 bit was a little easier to handle aben and I tried it on 1/2 inch OSB and made 5 clean almost perfect holes. Drilling with a 6" bit is on another level and again takes experience. like a technique. I would advise reading how to drill with hole saws - there are many articles and to recap: crowns stick so you will first need to drill about 1/8" into the wood to make a pilot hole, especially if you are using large 6" hole saws then use a 1/4" drill bit to drill through holes around the perimeter of the 6" pilot hole to make. This will cause the sawdust to fall through the 1/4" drilled holes. Drilling with hole saws causes jams, so you need to be prepared for that. Despite everything I've read and prepared, I was surprised at how much torque was generated and happened to have i drilled some holes around the perimeter with a hole saw and was able to drill easily its all about technique and proper use of a great product something like that please update as i gain experience if there is anything to add but i thought I would at least do that as there aren't many useful products out there like this 6" saw. I'm planning to order maybe 3 more" for a 2-1'2 dust collection system.

Pros
  • Increased HSS height increases hole saw durability (highest in the industry)
Cons
  • Quick Start Guide
