Review on ๐Ÿ”ถ Bilstein 24-141727 Front Shock: High-Quality Yellow Upgrade for Jeep Wrangler JK by John Reese

BIG BUT!: Shock Absorber

Bilstein has developed a well-made, robust shock absorber for the harsh conditions Jeeps are known for. However, there are 2 complaints. 1. The threaded top end of the shock is not long enough to use the new rubber bushings and their steel caps, leaving room for a nut to thread on. Although I would love to use the new materials, Bilstein is forcing me to use the old ones. . YOU'RE LISTENING TO BILSTEIN - DOUBT!2. At least Jeep was prescient enough to weld a nut to the stock shock shaft under the strut for you to tighten. However, the ingenious designer BILSTEIN did NOT put a nut on it, but slipped a hexagon head over the (short) end of the thread. That's all well and good. unless you have very little space at the top to put an Allen key on it! Jeep Owners ATTENTION, you will need to modify the allen wrench to tighten the top. The "Fickle Finger of Fate" award goes to "Bilstein Shock Absorber Designer".
