Great update from stock

I couldn't handle a smooth ride on my 2012 Wrangler JKU Sahara and I didn't plan to add a lift anytime soon. These Bilsteins are perfect. Stiffer ride, better cornering handling, less roll when braking. And all of this without reacting too sensitively to every bump in the road. It also feels more stable on the track. Easy to install with proper tools and jacks. Cosmetic blue wellies are a must, but that's just my personal preference. Overall I am very happy with these shock absorbers.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Nothing here

It feels like riding a jelly. What I do not like.

Contact Bilstein for a LIMITED LIFETIME WARRANTY, very limited! The customer service representative seems arrogant or even pompous. Then I called 4WD and I had 40 more calls ahead of me. The email said I could remove the shocks and pay for shipping to send them back. I guess then I'll have to wait and wait and wait and wait until they can probably send me a replacement. I can't drive a jeep without a shock absorber. OR IT MAYBE that I should NEVER buy Bilstein again and should never buy…

Stock shock absorbers replaced by JK 2012

The world is changing. No more nose jumping, no more quick dog walks around corners, handling is great now. Installation was easy, except on the passenger side, the bottom edge of the fuse box had to be cut out because the Jeep was large enough to fit directly onto the shock absorber stud. Either that, or disassemble everything under the hood. Just cut, no big deal. I'm also not a fan of blue boots and have discovered the hard way that most of these "universal" boots don't fit them. Beware…

  • Large selection

BIG BUT!: Shock Absorber

Bilstein has developed a well-made, robust shock absorber for the harsh conditions Jeeps are known for. However, there are 2 complaints. 1. The threaded top end of the shock is not long enough to use the new rubber bushings and their steel caps, leaving room for a nut to thread on. Although I would love to use the new materials, Bilstein is forcing me to use the old ones. . YOU'RE LISTENING TO BILSTEIN - DOUBT!2. At least Jeep was prescient enough to weld a nut to the stock shock shaft under…

It's worth the money and time to upgrade to these Bilsteins!

Front shock absorbers are not easy to replace but are worth the trouble and expense if you feel your vehicle is less than appealing! Today I changed the rear and front wheels, the whole process took about 2 hours with the front taking the most time due to the effort and time spent removing the stock shock absorbers. In the end, despite a lot of oil penetrating and a bit of heat, the upper screw on both shock absorbers broke. With the old ones removed, installing the new Bilsteins took about 15…
