This works really well for homemade smash burgers! The whole thing is very sturdy so you can just grab a hand and really lean on it to flatten the burger nice and nice! I used a thick spatula which didn't work either, to apply proper pressure you had to press down on the spatula with the end of a wooden spoon or something. If you haven't made smash burgers before, it's very easy. Start with a hamburger mixed with your favorite seasoning, then shape into 1/8-pound balls. You will need a flat pan or a cast iron skillet that can be heated to 400-500 degrees. Add the meat to the pan and press firmly with a meat grinder until thin. Then move the chopper to the side and turn it a few times so the meat doesn't stick to it. In less than a minute the top of the hamburger will be moist and the edges done, flip and place on top of the cheese slice. In less than a minute, the cheese should melt and the burger should be ready! If you're cooking them in an iron skillet, do them one at a time to leave room for work. They take so little time to bake that you don't have to worry about each cake getting cold. I usually stack 2 patties to make 1/4 lb. Use sliding buns, smaller buns, or even English muffins. I recommend this, it's strong enough for you to lean on. The included scraper is also very handy for picking up food from the cutting board and transferring it to the pan. That's a nice bonus.
