THE BEST RAMP FOR LARGE DOGS

I bought this ramp for my 125 lb Great Dane mix that was having trouble loading. I have a Jeep Liberty and this ramp was the perfect length/height for rear loading. I love that it doesn't need to be locked up to work - you can make it as steep or as long as you can and it's ready to ride right out of the box, so I'm sure it will work for many different types of vehicles. It turned out to be a bit narrower than I had hoped and my Dane was a little hesitant to use it at first. You'll probably need to slowly train your dog to use this ramp (just like any other ramp). I started by laying the ramp on the ground and using his favorite treat to get him to just walk over it. Then I slowly walked up the slope with my porch ladder. Teach him any height. In the end he was ready to climb to my jeep's height. The process only took about a day to learn. Just give your dog time to get used to it. I know a lot of people have commented on the sandpaper-like grip pad and didn't like it. However I found it perfect and helped my dog hold her and I never had a problem with her hurting her paws. The material will scratch almost immediately, but this is inevitable when the claws are large. Scratches don't affect the quality, they're just on the surface, which is nice. I like how it folds up nicely, although the latches to keep it closed didn't last long, but I've never used it anyway - if it just stays in your car all the time it'll stay off pretty well self closed. I have had this ramp for over a year now and would highly recommend it to owners of large and heavy dogs. My only wish was that it was a bit wider to give the dogs more room to move up and down. Now that my dog is getting a bit more unstable, sometimes he loses a leg and almost falls off his side - I always stand on my side when loading so I'm always there when that happens and it really wasn't a big problem for us but a bit - something to keep in mind for people who have long-legged dogs that don't set their feet up very well. This is actually the first review I've ever written, but I wanted to show this ramp because I spent hours looking for one and even bought two that I had to return. Nothing compares to the durability of this ramp. Hope that was helpful!
