Review on πŸ”’ Enhanced Ford Power Tailgate Lock: Pop & Lock PL8250 (for OEM Lock-equipped Tailgates) by Travis Showcase

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It's best to stretch the wire and do it.

When I assembled my 2010 F150 Crew Cab with the tailgate step installed, I fished the wires for the interlock switch through the underside of the tailgate where the harness for the tailgate camera runs. You will need to fish it out the side of the spare tire as the plug will not go through this hole. It was a little difficult to route the wires through the tailgate that connect to the lock switch. I found a grommet on the underside of the driver's side passenger door that I cut a small slot in to insert another cable, but then had to go up through the cable duct and into the driver's door cable duct under the trim panel. Pay particular attention to the colors of the cables under the treadplate, there are many cables and if you are even a little color blind you will get the wrong cable. If you received the wrong cables, you can reuse the cable connectors. However, remember that you need to connect the wires under the trim on the driver's side, not the driver's side passenger side. Similarly, if you route the wires on the right passenger side, they should be connected to the wires under the passenger door, not the rear passenger door. I used a wire hanger to run the wire through the right rear wheel and route the wire through the tailgate to the latch switch. It is best to route the wire, make the electrical connection and test everything before pulling it back together so it will be easier to make changes if after a successful test it doesn't work the first time and you can then make the final wire etc. I love the way it works, I have a bakflip cover over my bed and the back door locks when my doors are locked meaning I can keep my tools and back door safe. Thanks to Joe at Pop and Lock for his help, the instructions didn't list the driver's side door nor the passenger door on the driver's side, he got me right! Great product, if I had known earlier!
