Review on TERRAMASTER D8 Thunderbolt 3 (D8-331) Professional-Grade 8-Bay Thunderbolt3 Hardware RAID Enclosure Support RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50 External Hard Drive RAID Storage (Diskless) by Ryan Cornelius

This is my second Terra Master unit (I also have a 5-bay D5-300 unit). Before I found Terra-Master, I looked at several other well-known manufacturers. I've had no problems with Terra-Master (while I've had some with most other manufacturers) and have received excellent support when needed. new macbook pro. The package arrived in excellent condition, I found it very securely packed (see pictures). A few features I really like about the physical design of the device: 1.) Grip. When we go on vacation, we like to unplug our backup devices and store them in a fireproof safe. The handle greatly simplifies this task and reduces the risk of the device falling during transport. 2.) Rear RAID selector switch - LOVE IT! It is very easy to set up and change RAID levels without installing any software (WARNING As with any hard drive system, changing the hard drive or RAID configuration will result in data loss). I wanted to test the device to see how it works. were run in different configurations, so I tested a single drive configuration (solid state + rotating disk combo) as well as RAID 0 and RAID 1 configurations. The transfer speed performance in all configurations matched the speed of the disk (maximum! ) - very fast!. Setting up and changing disk configuration and RAID levels was incredibly quick. Finally - this device is fired! I didn't hear it during use, the loudest noise was when I was doing a large file transfer with 3.5" drives attached (spinning, not SSD) and I heard the drives themselves, not the case fan. I have 2 constructive feedbacks to share - 1.) There was no quick start guide included (instead there were instructions directing me to go back to the Terra Master website to download the quick start guide). First I had an issue navigating the site and found it was related to my VPN (I had to disable my VPN to navigate and download instructions). 2.) The 4th hole for 2.5" drives does not match the 4th hole on one of my drives (see attached picture). It's a bottom hole so I won't have any physical stability issues over time.
