My old Ford stereo was a bit crappy. It's figurative - I don't know anything about the actual construction of poop. I needed a new stereo to drive those same dung speakers, and that meant one of two things: I either went crazy splicing wires and making bits of duct tape, or I needed a harness adapter. I selected this item last. The replacement stereo had wires that matched the color/purpose of Ford's wiring harness, so it was a matter of color matching and connector in the barrel sleeves. Remember, if you're color blind, you can outsource this part. With all the wires "connected" (hope this doesn't make my review too scandalous for you), it was a plug and play operation.
