My old digital food thermometer was also called a fast digital food thermometer but it really isn't. It only takes a few seconds to register the temperature, so I consider it instant. I also appreciate the button hold function to check the temperature in the oven. Instead of standing in front of a hot open oven and bending over to see what the temp is, I just pop it in, press hold, and take it out of the oven to check the temp. The display is large for this type of thermometer (1 3/4” x 5/8”) and easy to read. The probe is easy to clean, the probe case is included. Another useful feature is the automatic shutdown. If you forget to turn it off, it will do it by itself. Ideal for saving battery life. So far I've tried it on a variety of chicken and beef dishes and everything has been cooked perfectly, so I think this thermometer is spot on for cooking. I am very satisfied with this digital thermometer and can recommend it.
