MISTAKE BUY Best in the Vacuums & Floor Care category

UPDATE: I absolutely hate this thing. About 3 months after purchase, I felt some resistance and the smell of something burnt when vacuuming. I took it apart, cleaned it and replaced the belt and it never worked like it did when it first started. Now he has chewed/burned 6 spare straps in a few months. The belt slips, the roller brush no longer picks up pet hair from carpets, it throws most things backwards instead of vacuuming them up. Virtually unusable after six months of use. I have contacted Sanitaire customer service via email and they insist that I need to call customer service to troubleshoot. I've been having problems with Realm for a while now. They claim this is the only way for me to use the warranty, but I hate this stupid thing so much that I'd honestly rather throw it away and buy something else than waste time with their warranty process. I'm pretty sure I'll have to zip it up, tape it in place, and generally install a spare. Check out the reviews that relate to the issues I've had in terms of constantly changing straps, loose screws, and general failure of this unit. Don't buy this. Too bad I didn't. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I've had this vacuum for a few months now, so I feel I can write a solid review based on normal everyday (household) use. I will update if it breaks or fails. Overall I am satisfied with this vacuum cleaner. I work for an eco-friendly cleaning service and buy most of the supplies and equipment. I use a canister vacuum for hardwood and other non-carpeted floors, but it just doesn't cut it when it comes to rugs and rugs with pet hair and the like. My previous household vacuum cleaner with all the newfangled attachments broke after six months of daily use. Register with Sanitaire! I wanted to keep my costs down and this device fits the bill and has a shake bag to boot. The assembly wasn't difficult. It's definitely not a complicated design. A little awkward at first to understand how to empty, and generally by touch, but you get used to it. The metal bar actually slides off the top of the bag and the entire bag opens up for you to shake out! Pretty cool and effective. My first problem, which was actually my fault. I can easily go a month without emptying and use it about five days a week. The bag is huge. I thought it was pretty cool and tra-la-la'd. Soon he met. Stink. There is no filter as far as I know, and since I mainly use it on pet hair and fancy carpets, it became obscene pretty quickly. I say NEGATIVE. The air flows through the bag, so it simply carries the hot smell of garbage into the customers' homes. We can easily fix it. Empty it fairly often and that's fine. I throw in some dryer sheets to combat my laziness and it's no longer a problem. Just a warning if you work in my field! Now to the biggest point of criticism. A fight to end all fights. the damn screws holding the handle together. Philips can only screw one side, the other is smooth. So it's almost impossible to pinch properly to screw properly, and either way, this kid is mighty. He yells. So wobbly wobbly screws tend to just fall out with all the vibration. This happened three times. despite the fact that I regularly checked them and tried to tighten them. I've always been able to find them, but it's just as annoying when you're in the middle of work and your vacuum pen starts acting like sluggish noodles. It was actually an easy fix at the end of the day. Eventually I went out and spent two dollars on zip ties and threaded two in each hole. Much stronger than before. I threw those stupid screws in the trash. Do I have to attach them to each other? Probably no. From what I understand this part is just crappy design. But I'm still glad I bought it and feel it was worth the money spent. My only other complaint is that there is no swivel hook/easy cord release so I have to stand there and unwind the cord every time. which takes all of 30 seconds. But still. 30 seconds every time I use it, I get up and wish the cable was easy to disconnect!

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Too stupid
