You plug in a 4-pin molex connector and then connect the SATA power side to the SATA drive. Nothing easier than that. You will then struggle to separate it from the four-pronged molex and be thankful that the four-pronged molex is dying. This thing saved my dick tonight. I had to replace the hard drive on my wife's desktop with an SSD because the hard drive had failed. I wasn't sure if the PSU has another SATA power connector, so I added one to the SSD order just in case. I'm glad I did; there were no other usable SATA power connections in the case. I've only used this to move data from an HDD to an SSD. The hard drive was connected to the original SATA power connector that the hard drive previously used. This adapter is now in my computer tool bag. Didn't think to check the wire color coding on the molex page someone else wrote about. I'm glad I got one that was wired correctly and didn't release any magical smoke.
