Review on Uniden BCD996P2 Digital Mobile TrunkTracker V Scanner with 25,000 Advanced Channel Allocation, Close Call RF Capture Technology, 4-Line Alpha Display, Base/Mobile Design, Phase 2, and Location-Based Scanning by Russ Mashlan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Received a bad block - no trunk

I was initially pleased with the scanner but noticed that it was terribly "quiet" - I figured our local police might now only be transmitting encrypted data . I took a closer look at the device and noticed that there are no trunking channel indicators on the display! I've had this done at a Uniden before 2 years ago - this happens when devices experience a sudden power loss while being turned on (e.g. if you turn it off while the radio is on), but it doesn't fail every time. - only occasionally, but the failure is relatively fatal to the radio - there is no way for the end user to fix or even bypass it. It's mostly deaf on certain channels - it receives trunk calls but doesn't transmit. I am in the process of returning/replacing the same radio with Revain.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Easy maintainability
