I used this to mount my Garmin 742 chartplotter on my sailboat. I already installed it and used it on my old sonar that I replaced. The rectangular base fits my new chart plotter even without drilling holes. i'm in port To swim, I release the grip and lift the GPS up with the RAM arm outstretched for the best view from the cockpit. This whole setup only takes a few seconds. It could hardly be more perfect for my needs. And, of course, the quality of the main memory goes without saying.
