I bought an Acer XG270HU in 2014 or 2015 and it still works well for me and I game quite a bit. This also works with Gsync (which I don't really need to use) and AMD FreeSync. Image quality is fairly consistent, but not as pretty as some other monitors with better color reproduction, but the focus here is on 144Hz gaming. The monitor is very responsive and feels incredible in FPS games. At the time of purchase, this was the best monitor I could find, with a 1:1 grayscale to gray ratio, 1440p resolution AND 144Hz support, and under $500. The main downside is that it doesn't have a Vesa mount and the actual stand is complete crap. Even if you hit the table the whole monitor shakes, it's just a very weak stand design just horribly designed. I noticed a few faded patches of color at the very bottom of the screen where it connects to the plastic case. , but that doesn't matter since it's only visible on a pure white screen and they're no bigger than a pencil point. Besides, it's a good picture. You DEFINITELY need to play with color profiles to get the image you want. It should be noted that some of the game's brightness settings do not affect the image on the monitor, which is really strange, but it didn't ruin my experience. If they could do a 4k model like this I'd be in it like a stinky fart!
