Review on Ikea 501 531 80 Chosigt Grater Container by Sarah Blough

Best IKEA product! -- no rust after 20 months!

I live in a humid tropical climate and I put my hand through a cheese grater every few months because no matter how much I spend and how carefully I dry it over the stove, it rusts. I was looking for cheese graters that wouldn't rust and this one was at the top of the list. I'm not usually an IKEA fan and I think their kitchen utensils tend to be junk, but I've seen two of these cheese graters from different eras in action. One belonged to a friend who, like me, doesn't think IKEA is a good place to buy kitchen appliances and she swore by her. I saw how well the cheese graters had aged, liked the non-slip bottom of the container and thought it was a good size. So when I saw one in a color I liked, with a reasonable premium and very cheap shipping to Mexico, I decided to take a chance. It's been a few months and I'm very happy about it! It hasn't rusted and the plastic lid is airtight - I can grate the cheese for a week and it won't dry out. Good product! Update almost 20 months later: My cheese grater still looks like new! I don't even have to dry it on the stove. It doesn't rust, washes well, the container is odorless, although I prefer aromatic cheese. I absolutely adore this product. This is truly an investment property.
