I've never looked for an express card (of any kind) for my laptop. I bought it because the firewire port in my laptop stopped working and needed it, but I had to wait for my laptop to be repaired. and it worked great. I couldn't connect my regular old Firewire cable to it, but the Firewire 800 cable was perfect
