, I am a molecular biologist, so I use stirrers in the lab all the time. However, it is extraordinarily difficult to use. The magnet on the agitator rotor is very weak and will not hold the agitator. Agitator loosening from the rotor happens even with high-end agitators if you increase the speed too quickly. However, the speed control on this unit is so poor that you have to give it 30-40% power before it spins and then the agitator starts. If you're willing to spend about five minutes getting frustrated, you can sometimes make it work. However, it's not worth the headache for me. I just want my stirrer to work properly. It's not like this. Not even close
