Review on ๐Ÿ”Œ Energizer Jumper Cables for Car Battery: Heavy Duty Automotive Booster Cables with Carrying Bag - 16-Feet (6-Gauge) by William Mathis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Starting your car is now much easier!

First I bought the cables from TechBuy. My product arrived quickly and much earlier than expected, which I really appreciate. (Thanks, TechBuy.) I'm not mechanical, but I'll do my best to explain the product I received in some context, why I bought it, and how the product ended. My review is quite long but I hope my experience with this product will help someone. WHY I BOUGHT THIS: One of my cars, a BMW V8, has sat in my garage since February 20th and no one has driven or started it; it is 50 days ago. It's snowing where I live, so as an overprotective person I don't drive until it stops snowing and all the salt on the roads is gone; Since I also work during the week, I can't drive as often as I would like. A few weeks ago the interior lights were still working but I couldn't start the car. I bought one of those $70/$80 Costco jump starters, but it had little to no effect on my review for a number of reasons, which I explain in the Why I Recommend These Cables section. Last week I opened my car door again, but this time the interior light didn't come on; my battery was completely empty. I decided to purchase these 25 foot, 1 gauge 800A Energizer Heavy Duty Jumper Cables to start my car with my van (with its V6 engine) as my next option. The main reason I bought these cables is because I was intrigued by the fact that you can rear start the car. I also didn't want to wheel my car into the driveway only to have it stuck there and it started raining later that week. As I only have a 1 car garage this turned out to be a great investment. HOW IT WAS: The cables (including the copper plated contacts themselves) that I received were brand new, rolled up and stored in the Energizer carrying case. Being 25 feet long, they were enough for me to connect my van to my car. However, make sure you drive the support car (with a healthy battery) a little closer to the car that needs a jump before connecting the cables to make sure they reach each other. The grips and cable contacts I received were of good quality. I connected the wires to each car, waited about 5 minutes and then tried to start the car. It didn't work the first time, so I waited another 5 minutes and tried running it again. It worked after a good 4-5 second start and I felt relieved. I drove the car for about an hour to fully charge the battery before my next trip (tomorrow). WHY I RECOMMEND THESE CABLES: I recommend these cables for their LENGTH (25' or 30' options), but also for the SENSOR SIZE. I mentioned earlier in my review that I tried to start my car with a $70/$80 Costco portable jump starter. The cables from this trigger have a strength of 10, while they have a strength of 1. Why is that important? A high gauge reading indicates that the jumper cables contain thinner wires, meaning it will take much longer for enough current to flow through the cables to start the car from an external source. So the smaller the number of sensors, the thicker the wires and the easier and faster the current can flow between two connected vehicles. I also needed quality cables because I was running a V8 with a V6; I've read that higher quality rope makes it easier to jump off vehicles with larger engines. Also, the insulation covering the cables is thick and of excellent quality (based on what I received). The contacts/terminals are copper plated aluminum which conducts electricity slightly better than if it were just aluminum. While solid copper clamps would have been better, they fit my car nicely. If you need these cables for your private car, I think this is a great set of cables. If you need this for vehicles with much larger engines (especially commercial engines) then consider buying cables with solid copper terminals/pins, which other reviewers have recommended as well. In order to better understand the product and drive the car, I am very happy with this product and am planning to purchase another set of the same connector wires to replace the cheaper, shorter, 10 gauge wires that I now have in my van have. If you buy and use these cables, I recommend asking a friend to help you make things easier.
