This is our first front door with glass. As I tried to get used to the front door being visible, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was being watched. We have etched glass and clear parts. I was considering buying window tint because I figured it had a one-way mirror effect all the time, not just during the day. However, I am not aware of this. I found this film and I liked the look. Since it matched our original door glass style, I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately I don't have any before and after photos, only after. Installation was pretty easy, but I recommend having an extra pair of hands to help. I would also use a utility knife instead of scissors to trim to size. I had to come back with a utility knife to fix my jagged cuts with scissors. After trimming it, I did a few test runs (leaving the film on) and made sure I didn't have any protruding edges that might prevent proper bonding. Once I liked the dry fit, I removed the pad and got to work. Be sure to apply plenty of water. and I mean a lot of misted water. I used distilled water in a fine spray bottle. I used distilled water because we have very hard water and I wasn't sure if the stains would remain after drying. In retrospect, that probably wouldn't have been a problem. I used our shower scraper to smooth out the air bubbles. Once trimmed, installation took just five minutes. Pretty good. After I sprayed it on the glass, the window film just stuck. A second pair of hands would have helped position the bottom and top accurately. It took a bit of work, but I was able to move the film to where it needs to be. After my first try, I found that I hadn't sprayed enough water because it wasn't moving as freely as I would have liked. After liberally spraying the film, it became much easier to move and drag the film to where it needed to be. Overall it looks very good and my wife was surprised to see that it was so easy to make. It looks so good IMO that it could be confused with the original. This blurs the image enough to distinguish colors and shapes, but not clear enough to see through glass. Of course, if you put your face on it, you can see through the clear features, but if someone wants to look that closely, who am I to refuse.
