I never had seborrheic dermatitis until I was 52 years old. My hair was always dry. I've tried other shampoos containing coal tar, zinc pyrithione, and selenium disulfide, all with minimal improvement at best. By the time I went to my dermatologist, my scratching and picking had infected multiple areas on my scalp. It was painful. My doctor prescribed me a course of antibiotics and gave me some samples of DHS SAL Shampoo. Within a week my scalp was almost back to normal and has been for three months now. I was expecting salicylic acid to make my hair dry and brittle, but that didn't happen even after using DHS about a day later. This is a great product. The only downside I can see is the price, but it's really no more expensive than some of the other OTC therapeutic shampoos that haven't worked for me.
