Didn't fit.

Not the suppliers fault but it was quite a bit of work to get the job done. General Motors, in their boundless wisdom, soldered instrument bulbs into the sockets. To get them to work I had to desolder the original bulbs, then solder the wire to the LED pins, then solder the wire back into the sockets. A very lengthy process. After the first pair (which I used on top of the instruments) I realized that the LEDs are actually longer than the original bulbs, so I started shortening their length by sanding part of the back. Finally, the diameter of the circle with the 3 LEDs is slightly larger than the hole for the sockets, so I ended up having to chisel the back of the dash a bit to fit them. After all that, it looked blotchy and light in that area instead of the nice, evenly distributed effect you want. Insult to injury, it turns out that the two lamp sockets that originally stopped working had apparently stopped working completely in the fairing itself, so they did nothing to solve the original problem. Oh good. I ended up getting a replacement from a dismantling company and changed the whole setup. I modified the holes in the top positions and use two LEDs there and ordinary incandescent bulbs in the remaining positions. This creates a beautiful glow with a slight bluish cast (blue filters are located at the high points). They should be better suited for some other uses, but for me it was a lot of work for less than great results.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Fits
