I have little experience with webcams. But I've tried it on both a Mac Mini and a Linux (Ubuntu) laptop (yes, the laptop - Dell - has a built-in webcam, but Ubuntu recognizes it very inconsistently, so I only use a USB webcam). In both cases I just plugged in a webcam and it worked without any additional settings. I used it for a Zoom meeting on a Linux computer and a FaceTime and Webex meeting on a Mac. I don't know if I used the built-in mic on my Linux computer or not, but I do know that the webcam mic worked in a Webex meeting on a Mac because I didn't have a separate USB mic plugged in and my Mac Mini not, no built-in microphone. The camera compensates for low light much better than the other webcam I have. And the picture was so good that it took me a few days to realize that there was a plastic sheet in front of the webcam that I hadn't removed! The most important thing I look for in a webcam is that I just plug it in and it works for whatever I need. It definitely passed this test. Full Disclosure: Inside the webcam box was a card that offered a "free gift" of a stereo headset if I checked out the product on Revain.com. The rating and review content is mine and I really like this webcam.
