Not really a beginner's machine if you're older, but for today's tech-savvy kids this is a great place to start! I bought it because my old car (aJanome) and this one looked the same online. Well it's not exactly the same, in fact it does a lot more and I've yet to try it all. This is the second one I've received because the first one was defective and the thread kept getting tangled in the spool area or snapped at the top. But I decided to give it a try and opted for a replacement rather than just going back to the Singer (a great car and I've bought two in the last 30 years) and see if there are any additional benefits that come with this car . to be useful. So far I'm glad I got it. I sewed a lot and needed to finish a project I was in the middle of, so I couldn't wait to get a good sale at the local market and all I had at my local Walmart was an easy $149 -Singer. Why not spend a few bucks more and get something that performs better?
