About a year after purchase, the inside of the salt shaker fell apart when we were trying to refill. I contacted Cole and Mason through their website about the lifetime warranty. They took weeks to get back to me after I emailed them. I sent them pictures of the broken parts. In theory I can get a new kit under warranty - remains to be seen. But I only have to pay for the return shipping through USPS and I have to send the pepper grinder back along with the broken salt grinder. They should have just let me keep the pepper mill as I had to pay for the return postage. I have no idea how long I'll be without a pepper and salt grinder - I'm much more dependent on a pepper grinder that isn't broken, but I still have to go back. Mediocre customer service regarding "lifetime warranty"
