Convenient performance expansion for MacBook Air 2018

I recently upgraded a 2015 MacBook Air to a 2018 MacBook Air and wanted to do something about the expansion situation as part of the upgrade: I was doing it with a USB Third party C dongle that worked for its purpose but left us without help at times. First, the fact that I was the key meant that the overall size of my computer was blurry, with its connecting cables tugging at it in various places. Second, I sometimes had to remove the key and reinstall to get the display back as after a while it seemed to forget and go silent. By no means without problems and with poor visibility. So I was intrigued by these dual port side docking hubs that I was seeing. I had to meet certain requirements: Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI, USB-C PD and a few USB 3 ports for further expansion (I attach a 10-port Anker USB 3 hub to this first hub and then route a lot around cables from my computer). After further research, I settled on SHINEVI, which provided all the ports I needed (and more), and I confirmed some aspects of MacBook Air 2018 compatibility before purchasing (the other products either didn't mention support or only claimed support for MacBook Pro. However, this could simply mean that it is not compatible with the previous generation MacBook Air). New computer. I didn't have to disable/reinstall it for any reason and I love what it did for my general wiring situation. Also: I got my MacBook Air in Space Gray and got a matching docking station. Nice gesture (sometimes we actually CAN have something nice). No problem running functions. Plug in and off you go. It is used daily but has still reached the desired low visibility state. It simply fulfills its purpose and otherwise remains on the sidelines. It warms up a little; I wouldn't say in an unfavorable degree, and the battery life seems to keep dropping whenever I put my PC to sleep (most of these hubs seem to do that, other than shutting them down). I'd say I have no complaints overall, just kudos for the solid design and smooth, fail-safe functionality I've experienced using it so far.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Something is wrong
