A cheap HDMI converter component will ruin this.
Don't buy this if you're thinking about it. trust me it stinks. I tried the Hyperkin version of this product and it was just as good as the LOW quality. Very blurry and the RGB setting looked worse than the component setting. In addition, the RGB setting caused the image to flicker. There is also a noticeable input lag. I have one of the $20 component to HDMI transcoders (sold here) and when used with a good quality component cable like Sony, Monster or Psyclone they surpass it in picture quality. Get one of these if you don't want to spend money on a Framemeister or OSSC and I think you'll be happy.
